SW Washington is a unique area to explore it is the complete opposite of the Olympic Peninsula in as it is quite low by comparison, the Olympic mountains are just short of 8000 feet, whereas the Willapa it has two rivers basins that drain the area into two bays. Near the bays, the rivers meander through tidal salt water marshes and these marsh areas are quite extensive in this part of the West Coast of North America.
